Council Meetings

Regular meetings of Council are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, at the Village Office commencing at 7:00 p.m.
Council meetings are open to the public, however, anyone wishing to speak at a Council meeting must request to be a delegate (see below).

As much as possible, business is conducted in "Open Session" with the exception of matters that are exempt from public discussion under The Local Authority Freedom of Information and Privacy Act and The Municipalities Act (i.e., personnel matters, litigation or potential litigation, or the receiving of legal advice).

Council Meeting Agendas & Minutes

All efforts will be made to post agendas and all related material by the Friday prior to the meeting, and no later than 24 hours before the meeting.
Minutes will be available once approved at the following regular meeting of Council.
Copies of older council minutes which do not appear on the website may be obtained by contacting the Village Office.

Wishing to Speak at a Meeting or Correspond with Council?

Any person wishing to address Council at a meeting must request to be a delegate. Delegations are opportunities for members of the public to make brief presentations to Council about a matter. A Delegation Request, outlining concisely the subject matter which the delegation wishes to place before Council, along with any supporting documentation, must be completed and submitted (see below form) no later than noon on the Tuesday prior to the date of the desired meeting to attend. The CAO may decline to place any request on the agenda if a written application is not received. The Village Office will contact you to confirm the meeting you are invited to attend.

Many concerns can be resolved at staff level, therefore it is recommended that residents discuss their matter with the Village Office prior to requesting to appear before Council. Staff can provide you with valuable information that may remove the need to go to Council. A conversation with office staff may also help with understanding your concern/questions, and can help to create a meaningful meeting with Council.

If you feel a matter is important, but you don't feel the need to speak in front of Council, you may choose at anytime to correspond with Council by emailing or delivering a written letter. Unsigned letters will not be forwarded to Council or placed on a Council meeting agenda.

Please note that your request in its entirety may be included in the Council agenda, and that Council agendas are public documents. All 'Personal Information' as defined in Section 23(1) of The Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act will be removed from all documentation.

Correspondence must be received no later than noon on the Tuesday prior to the date of the meeting which is desired, otherwise it will be placed on the next available Council Agenda.
